The Winner Takes It All – The Story Of ABBA

A lecture on one of the biggest pop bands of all time.

ABBA existed 1972–1982, but their music lives on to this day through the Mamma Mia! musical, Stockholm’s ABBA – The Museum and the compilation album ABBA Gold, which has sold 30 million copies to date. In the entertaining lecture The Winner Takes It All – The Story Of ABBA Carl Magnus Palm relates the ABBA saga: how Agnetha, Björn, Benny and Frida created their music, but also their winding road to success and the obstacles they encountered on the way. The lecture is illustrated with pictures and music. 

The length of the lecture is 1 hour 15 minutes, but can be varied according to your wishes. Its theme can also be narrowed down: for example, “ABBA’s music”, “ABBA as an export phenomenon”, “ABBA critique in the 1970s” – or whatever else.

Carl Magnus Palm is the world’s leading ABBA historian and the author of several books about the group, such as the acclaimed biography Bright Lights Dark Shadows – The Real Story Of ABBA (Omnibus Press 2001; revised edition 2014). Palm has researched and written about the group for 25 years and is also a consultant for the record company Polar Music when ABBA’s music is re-released on CD and DVD.
